The Operation of Faith: Christ Died, Rose, & Revived

Ensure you read Yesterday's Sunrise

We are finally on our last stages. We are looking at the operation of faith according to Col 2:9-13. We had rearranged the verses to match the chronological order of the operation of faith - [verse 13 (the first half), 11, 10, 12, 13 (the second half), 9]. We have 3 verses left.

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

The faith of the operation of God allows us to be buried into Christ's death when we receive the Holy Spirit. Our souls were baptized into an eternal Spirit (the Holy Ghost), and thus we were made present at both Christ's death and when He rose from the dead in hell. We were made partakers of both. This allowed us to be justified, seeing that we did not have a right to live, but seeing that we were baptised into Christ's death we are allowed to live through Him.

In the operation we learned that when we cried out to God for salvation, our soul was taken out of the flesh (Col 2:13), our bodies were then circumcised (Col 2:11), and our souls were then placed in the Holy Spirit (Col 2:10), which carried us to Christ's death on the cross, and His resurrection in hell (Col 2:12). Let's move to the next step. However, to do so we must continue to see exactly what happened with Christ Jesus.

For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

CHRIST DIED.

- On the cross, His soul was taken out of the flesh and it plummeted into hell (death is separation from God, it is also a holding place for the soul in hell). At that point the Holy Spirit went back into heaven and his body went into the tomb to be held for 3 days and nights.

CHRIST ROSE

- After 3 days and nights of suffering in hell, God went into the depths of hell, and rescued His son. Jesus' soul was rejoined to the Father and He was born again (read yesterday's Sunrise). His soul was placed in the Holy Spirit which is a Spirit of life. Thus, He rose from the dead in hell.

Being raised from the dead and in the Spirit allowed Him to preach to the spirits in the grave that were held, and grant to them the Holy Ghost. A great revival was run in hell, and those that received the Holy Ghost ascended out of hell, into Jerusalem and then to heaven. This made Him Lord of the dead.

CHRIST REVIVED

However, here is the next step. He rose, but He also revived. Though His soul rose from the dead when He was in hell. While He was preaching and teaching in hell, His body was still in the tomb. Thus, when Jesus' mission in hell was accomplished, He had to return to the flesh that was waiting for Him in the tomb.

Don't forget that the sins of the world had been atoned to it. Thus He had to circumcise His body before getting back inside it. When Jesus returned into His body, He revived.

Hence, Jesus had a complete born again experience.

1. His soul was taken out of the flesh, - (on the cross)

2. His soul was placed in the Holy Spirit - (in hell after 3 days and nights)

3. His body was spiritually circumcised (cleansed from sin) - (in the tomb)

4. The Holy Spirit, with His soul in it, went back into the Body. - (in the tomb)

Jesus was born again!

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Jesus, however is the FIRST begotten from the dead. It simply means that Jesus was the first to be born again. Thus, if we are to be saved we must partake in all the stages listed above. Let's look at the 13th verse of Colossians 2.

12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Yes, at salvation our soul was taken out of the flesh, our body was circumcised, our soul was placed in Christ and made complete, however, the next step is that Christ then entered our bodies and brought it alive!

Thus, Christ is literally dwelling in our flesh. Our human body is now the body of Christ. We are born again!

There is so much to learn about this so stay tuned!
