The Operation of Faith: Jesus - The Head of Principalities

Updated: Jun 25, 2019

Ensure you read Yesterday's Sunrise

Colossians 2:10

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

I want you to pay attention to the tail end of the scripture above. Jesus is the head of all principalities and powers.

This has a dual meaning.

1. Jesus is the head of the church.

2. Jesus has authority over all spiritual wickednesses in heavenly places.

Many in the church do not consider themselves as a heavenly power. However, we are. Jesus is the head of His body, the Church (Col 1:18). He is the head of all principalities and powers. We have been given all power over the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19), by our joining to Christ's Spirit (1 Cor 6:17). The joining of our souls to the Spirit not only gives us power, but makes us into Power. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph 2:6). We are lords from heaven (1 Cor 15:47-48). Thus, Jesus is King of kings, and Lord of lords (1 Tim 6:15).

It also reveals that Jesus is all powerful. However, many have not considered the ramifications of this.

Colossians 2:13-15

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

The circumcision of the flesh is a form of the spoiling of principalities and powers. Why is this so? Well according to our Sunrise last week on the Spirit of Iniquity, we learned that the devil operates inside of those who do not have the Holy Spirit (Eph 2:1-2). Therefore, when we receive the Holy Ghost, there is a spiritual circumcision of the devil out of the flesh.

Mark 3:27

No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

This scripture is relative to the human body. If Jesus wants to live inside of our bodies, He must first bind the strong man (the devil) so that He can win the body and live in it, all by Himself. The binding of that strong man is by the circumcision of the flesh. Jesus cuts away satan with his power and influence out of the flesh. He also casts out the power of devils and demons operating in the flesh. Thus, this is an embarrassing experience for the devil and his demons. They are put to shame.

Colossians 2:15

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Through salvation, Jesus has triumphed over satan and his fallen angels. Let us give praises to Jesus today, for the works of His hands! Only He is God!
