A Gift to the World Series – A Deliberate Gift

It’s Christmas time and let’s just be honest; most of your friends are excited! It is the time that we get to recall the events surrounding the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – the great gift to the world.

Let’s journey to Juda and meditate on a particular event. We discussed yesterday how the heavens rejoiced at the birth of the baby Jesus. However, there was actually some rejoicing concerning Jesus that happened even before He was born.

And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. – Luke 1:41-44

John the Baptist, while He was yet in the womb, was joyful! He had been touched by the presence of Jesus and even in the womb he felt such emotions of gladness and cheer!

A joyful John does not negate the presence of evil that had surrounded Jesus’ parents during that time. Mary was suddenly pregnant with a child from God: however, the public did not believe. They had attributed it to fornication. Can you imagine the shame she went through? To top it off, she was constantly in fear for her life, having to move from city to city simply to stay safe. Couldn’t it have been a thought in Mary’s head – “abort the child, and life will be peaceful again”..?

But no! She could not do that! Why? Because John leapt in the womb! Even before the baby was born, he had life! He had the ability to feel, to experience, to know, to recognize, to respond and even to sense. John even as a fetus could sense the presence of life in another womb. It is then clear that God blesses with life by creating a soul at conception and not at the time of birth.

Take time out today and thank God for the gift of life. No one is a mistake. All life is a good gift that comes from above, no matter the situations that concern it. I want you all that are reading to know you are not here by chance. You are here for a specific purpose that God has called you to do.

If you are someone that finds yourself convicted by this writing, know that you are loved, and that God cares. He holds nothing to your charge, if you give Him your heart and trust. He is a healer of the heart and mind. He can bring solace to any situation, so just hold on to Him and obey Him.

If you find yourself in a situation that is causing you think of taking a life, remember that it is God who gives life. So obey Him. Let God have His way with every aspect of your life, even your body. You are loved and considered by God.

May you all be blessed with the love of God, and know that He cares for you.
