Yesterday, we looked at the new man and we learned that it is the body of righteousness, that has been given to the sons of God, as a gift that they may live a holy life. However, let’s look some more into what this new man really is!
First, let us do some recap.
Old Man = Body of Sin
New Man = Body of Righteousness
Remember also, that the body without the spirit is dead! This means it is the spirit that carries character. Therefore the old man was a body of sin because the spirit and the law of sin was in it (Rom 8:2, Eph 2:2). What then is in the new man that makes it righteous?
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? – 1 Cor 6:19
Yes, it is the Spirit of the Lord in our bodies that makes us new and holy. In fact, these fleshy bodies are His temple!
When we look through spiritual lenses we can clearly picture the anatomy of the New Man and His characteristics.
New Man = Human Body, with the Spirit of God in it.
Let us continue to connect the dots, We learned on the 20th (Jesus is Here), that a body with a spirit in it is a living person. The question we could be asking after all of this explanation is: who then is a body, with the Spirit of God in it? Jesus Christ, is the Spirit of God in body form; therefore the New Man is Jesus Christ, the Son of Man. The New Man is Jesus in our flesh!
Compare these two scriptures, then high 5 your neighbor and rejoice at the wonderful works of salvation!
Eph 4:23
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Gal 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
The new man is Christ in the flesh – who is the son of man, returned as a savior in us, to live through us and take us to glory! Glory Hallelujah!
