An Ambassador Speaks with the Authority of the One who Sent Him

But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God even to them that believe on his name. John 1:12

Every single person who has received Christ has been given power to be the sons of God. Everything that we have been commissioned by God to do, we are able to do. No matter the trials or challenges we face in our lives, we were given the power through Christ to please our heavenly Father in all things. The life of the apostle Paul is a great example of this, he says in Ephesians 6: 19-20 ….

And for me, that the utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make know the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that there-in I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

No other lifestyle, career or personal goals were even an option, it was not even considered. Paul understood that he was not voted into the position, nor did he do anything to maneuver himself into this position. He was appointed by the King of kings, to embody the kingdom of heaven; only concerning himself with heavenly affairs as opposed to the affairs of the world.

Throughout history, countries have assigned ambassadors to represent their country in other foreign countries. An ambassador is an official envoy, a high-ranking diplomat with plenipotentiary powers. This means they have full authority to represent their government. An ambassador would never speak on his personal position on any issue, only his nation's official position. His goal is to influence his entire territory for his kingdom government.

We, as the ambassadors of Christ, have not been given this power to prance around, naming and claiming the things in this world, or to claim any actual territory. When an ambassador goes into another country his power is subject to the legal laws of the land that he is in. We must totally embrace that we have been taken from among men and ordained for men in the things pertaining to God.

I am reminded of the centurion when I think about the power that we have been given in Matthew 8: 7 – 9 it reads

”Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?

The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.

Here the centurion, having an understanding of authority, recognized authority and not only that but knew that although he was the official in the land they were in, there was a greater authority Jesus was walking in, so much so he asked him to simply speak!

People should recognize that there is something different about us, they should know by our lives that we are not of this world. Just like how we can spot foreigners in our country, so it should be with us, although we subject ourselves to the laws of the land walking in meekness, lowly and full of humility. They should recognize that we are walking in divine power, with the ability to reconcile, deliver, and heal in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Rise up Ambassadors of the Living God and let us sanctify His great name throughout the earth!
