Day 8
*The Love of God*
The Apostle Paul in the book of 1 Corinthians 13 clearly shows us the nature of love. It is:
📷not easily provoked or angered
📷vaunteth not itself
📷seeks not its own
📷bears all things
🔶God wants us to see that we can only love like this as we yield to who He has made us to be in the New Creation. Any thing outside of the boundaries of love outlined in this text does not express His nature and character whose name is Love, Jesus!
🔶 I am now reminded of a life changing experience I had some years ago. God had began to expose me to fresh, new and exciting truths in His Word. I was happy!
🔶I went home one Christmas and sat at the back of the church judging what was ministered and seeing how it fell short of what I had come to learn.
In a clear voice I heard the Lord say:
_"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth..._ (1 Corinthians 13:1-8, KJV)
🔶The Lord proceeded to say to me that inspite of what I had come to learn, He could not even trust me to say hello. I had no love for the people I had grown up with and my pride was an offence to Him. Knowledge had puffed me up. In fact,
I was a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
🔶Needless to say I was broken and my heart wept as I repented. The next day I set out for a few days to visit, apologise and share love to especially the elderly who had nurtured me as a child. However, there was one special lady I loved and I just knew I needed more time when I went to visit her. So I planned to be back in two weeks to spend time with her and bring her a gift. However, the day after I returned to Kingston the news came. She had died. I was broken.
*Lessons learnt*
God wants his love to flow through his body. Pride stops the flow of love. You should never quench, save up or resist how God wants to love through you. Be love to everyone.
*Respond & Reflect*
Knowledge puffs up but love edifies or builds up. Are you walking in the love of God? Who do you need to reach out with His love.Time is running out, do it today!
*Scripture in Focus*
