Romans 6:18 - Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
“Oh father thank you for your spirit, now I have power over sin!”
I remember seeking to receive the Holy Ghost, at that time I really wanted to fulfill the character of God, but could I? No! Because in me, back then, was another man living. He controlled my emotions and my thoughts, he was the strongman that had my soul in captivity, he is the devil.
I remember a particular time in high school when I tied a red string to my finger so it could be a reminder that i was supposed to be holy on that specific day. Unfortunately, no matter what i did, I could not perform righteousness. Sin had dominion over me. I was of my father the devil and it’s his lust I fulfilled.
I naturally sinned without having to decide for myself to do it. I could not help myself but to sin against God. The devil had me so deep in sin to the point where I didn’t believe God loved me, nor that He could save me.
But on April 22nd at approximately 10:30pm, my heart was at the place where I no longer wanted to go another day without God’s Spirit, nevertheless, there was this one thing that was hindering me from receiving God’s spirit and it was “Unbelief”.
I remember praying in the car on that night and I said “God a true, mi nuh believe seh yuh can save me, but if you want to save me, help me to believe you” (which means: God it is true, I don’t believe you can save me, but if you want to save me help me to believe you).
At that moment there was a flashback of everyone who told me that God loved me and it caused me to believe. In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, I felt when the Holy Spirit entered. I was taken out of the kingdom of darkness and placed into the Kingdom of Light. PRAISE YOU JESUS! I no longer desired to sin against God. My thoughts and emotions became pure. I now can be holy and righteous before God and most of all, I can now Fellowship with God. “So this is the mystery; i’m one with the father, and he’s one with me, I in him, and he in me”
2 Corinthians 5: 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.18 And all things are of God
