Luke 22:31-32
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
I want to share something that the Lord has shown me. Jesus prayed that Peter's faith wouldn't fail, and I pray the same for you. However, I want to keep you attentive to the wiles of the enemy.
So many times when we look at our trials we look at them situationally, instead of from the perspective of our whole lives. In other words, take a moment and think about your whole life, whether it be from the moment you got the Holy Ghost till now, or from the day you were born. Stop and examine the different things satan introduced you to or tried you with. Now think about the effect his influence has had on your entire life.
This is how satan approaches you. He is not only caught up in getting you to sin right now, but he really wants to taint your life, by tainting your mind with a perception of him and yourself.
Do you see anything about yourself that's negative that you didn't see in the early days of your faith? If you do, examine how that came to be. There was a time when your conscience was very sensitive against that thing, but now it is dull. The truth is your conscience only grows dull when you consistently, and constantly override it. Thus, the intention of the devil was to desensitize your conscience not just by one moment of failure, but many.
Hence your perception of your ability to walk the walk of Christ gradually changes to unbelief. This is what satan wanted. When he has you here, your faith has officially failed. Nevertheless, I write that your eyes may be opened to his tactics and that you may return to your first love of faith and obedience.
