In Matthew 5, Jesus laid out the character of a son of God. He ends it by saying, “Be ye therefore perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.” - Matthew 5:48. This scripture not only teaches who we are but also what we ought to do, and it is time to implement it. We shouldn't be hearers of the Word and not doers.
James 1:23-25
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
The word of God is the mirror in which the sons of God look. When we read it, we should see who we are. However, if we hear the word and do not perform it, we actually lose sight of who we actually are. We then, submit to anything the world says we are. Therefore, let us not be forgetful hearers of the word, but doers.
The working definition of perfection used is: choosing to follow God in all things at all times. So today saints, let us agree to follow God, trust Him, believe Him in and for all things.
