Turn unto to the Lord

God loves his people dearly and His ways are always just. You can see this clearly inside of the 12 books of the minor prophets. Almost each prophet started off with Israel, making God angry through their rebellion. Israel began worshiping false gods and indulging in much sin. God instructed each prophet to warn Israel, in hopes that they would repent and turn away from their sins. These prophets agreed with God. They were willing to suffer, be humiliated, and even be physically harmed for the sake of delivering God’s message to the people of Israel. And when Israel didn’t listen to God’s warnings, they faced the consequences, however God always remembered the promise He made with Abraham. God promised Abraham his dependents would be as the sand of the seashore and the stars in the sky. And the messiah would come from his bloodline. Through His mercy and love, God always purposed to restore Israel even though they messed up many times.

God’s loves hasn’t changed since then. He is the same God now, as he was back in the Old Testament. He is always righteous in judgement, faithfully delivering the consequences of disobedience. However, He is also full of mercy and slow to anger. He remained patient with Israel and finally delivered to them the promised messiah. Not only for Israel, but for all the nations. His Son Jesus Christ has come on the scene to save anyone willing to follow Him. He has an abundance of hope, love, joy, and salvation… you need only turn unto the Lord your God.

Reference: Joel 2:13 KJV

[13] And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
